How to Jump Start a Car With One of the Best Portable Jump Starters

We went to a lot of car shows when we were kids and my dad’s burning question after we’d seen all of the cars was, “What was your favorite?” As unexciting as our answers were (since we chose cars in our favorite colors), he never failed to ask that question. As we got older, our car picks became something that helped us bond with our dad even more than just watching him fix cars.

The Ford Thunderbird from the 1950’s eventually became the go-to car I’d search for through fields of cars. There was just something about it that always caught my eye.

Once we found it (or the 2005 model), my dad would point out something cool about the specific one we were looking at or some facts about it or another car from that time period. We learned so much about cars and eventually how to fix them.

As a daughter of a car mechanic and hobbyist, it’s no surprise that I’m expected to know how to fix my own car. But to my dad’s dismay, I only know the basics. Jump starting a car battery was something I learned early on and it’s been quite an issue with my own car as of late.

Although you can use jumper cables and hook them up from one car to the other, the more safer and effective way is to use a portable jump starter like this one:

It may be a little intimidating at first, but once you have everything connected correctly, you’ll see it’s not so bad at all!

P.S. To this day, I still get super excited when I happen to see a Ford Thunderbird on the street.
