How to Host a DIY Paint Night
I wasn’t around for the first DIY paint night.
It’s a fact that was recently brought to my attention.
Across the globe, Matt and I were studying abroad in Melbourne, as you can see from some of our vlogs. And back here in the States, my sisters were working hard on some of the first videos our channel produced. I’m forever grateful to them for their continued support from afar, but a part of me takes a little pride in the fact that they must have been a little bored without me around.
Paint & Sip is so commonplace now, even during the pandemic. But none of us ever have the time or the money to go. And honestly, I don’t think we have the patience to be in a class of drunk strangers either. DIY paint nights have been our awesome solution. Once you spend the initial amount on good paints, brushes, and palettes, the only ongoing cost are new canvases. I feel like it ends up saving money and time.
Being able to paint and drink in your own home also lowers the stakes and often means you won’t need to waste money on Uber or Lyft. Hosting kids’ parties also gets cheaper when you can re-use your easels and other supplies.
And while I may have missed the inaugural DIY paint night, we’ve had a few since then, ranging from the 3 of us casually hanging out on a weeknight, to a larger backyard session with coworkers. Whatever picture you decide to paint, whether you’re 1 person or a gaggle of friends, we hope you enjoy your paint night, and that it’s the first of many more.
